The municipal groups of Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, with the exception of EH Bildu, have agreed to a statement of conviction for the attack on an ertzaina registered last Sunday in the capital Alava.
This text, signed by the PNV, the PSE-EE, the PP and Elkarrekin, expresses the “strongest rejection and condemnation” of this aggression committed against a member of the Ertzaintza “precisely because of his condition” of member of the regional police, as indicated in the statement.
The signatories denounce that these are “unacceptable and sectarian facts, which do not represent a city like Vitoria-Gasteiz”, whose characteristics they affirm are “coexistence, tolerance and respect”.
The formations that subscribe to the text transfer their “proximity and total support” to the attacked agent and, in general, to all members of the Ertzaintza.
The spokesman for EH Bildu in Gasteiz City Council, Felix Gonzalez San Vicente, rejected “any form of aggression” on Twitter yesterday:
Given the attack suffered by a decommissioned Ertzaina in Gasteiz, and pending clarification of what happened, we confirm our firm rejection of any form of attack.
We call on the population to enjoy the festivities with moderation and respect. https://t.co/Y8EFgXCQG7
