Summer Talks 2022 – Vice Chancellor: “What FPÖ is doing is disgusting!”

Date:

In the next summer lecture of krone.tv, Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) fired heavily at the FPÖ and their criticism of sanctions against Russia. “In Ukraine, there is rape, children being murdered and prisoners whose testicles have been cut off,” Kogler said in an interview with Katia Wagner. He demands: “If that doesn’t stir anything in you, then these people should sneak out of politics.”

Wagner’s question what to think of the FPÖ’s criticism of sanctions makes the vice-chancellor visibly emotional. He thinks it is a “lie” that the sanctions do not work. Especially on Telegram – a portal on which, according to Kogler, “Kickl also hangs out and agitates” – the Russian president’s propaganda is said to be spread by “Putin understanders and boasters”. Kogler warns, “We should not get carried away by the bellicose narrative.”

Putin’s friends get money
He is not surprised that the liberals are calling for a referendum on the sanctions and ideally their abolition, given that they have signed a “friendship treaty” with the Kremlin party. “There is a suspicion that Putin’s friends received money,” the vice chancellor said. In any case, he does not want to accept politicians who are “chasing Putin”. “You have to have your heart in the right place and I will go against that,” he says clearly in the direction of the FPÖ.

“Hard times await us”
Vice Chancellor Kogler shows little optimism when it comes to the supply shortage. We would have taken precautions and stocked our stores for this winter, but tough times would still lie ahead – especially next winter. In view of the current situation, he advocates that a subcommittee investigate who is politically responsible for gas dependence.

What will be over from 2023…
According to Kogler’s findings, “nobody is happy” that the coal-fired power station at Mellach in Styria will have to be switched on again in an emergency. But he predicts: “From 2023 it will be over, there will only be electricity from renewable energy”, his motto is: “From the fossil age, into the solar age”, even if fossil energy has to be done in the short term.

“These are corona deniers, state rejecters and right-wing radicals!”
The vice-chancellor also found clear words for those who booed incumbent Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen at several appearances. “These are corona deniers, state rejecters and right-wing extremists,” he noted. He himself has been threatened and attacked. “We must defend ourselves against such machinations. We must not allow our democracy to be destroyed,” Werner Kogler says clearly.

Kogler’s Conclusion: “This Government Delivers”
His conclusion from a year and a half of Turquoise Green is unsurprisingly positive: “This government delivers!”. When Wagner is asked if he would be surprised if there was another chancellor sitting next to him tomorrow, Kogler jokingly replies, “We’re used to surprises!”
