Date:

Funeral arrangements have been confirmed following the tragic death of the late talent Red Ogg Murphy.

News spread over the weekend that the GAA star had passed away over the weekend and that her funeral was to take place in Sligo on Friday afternoon.

Murphy, who attended elementary school at DCU, will rest at his home Thursday in Mululug, with a funeral at 1 p.m. Friday at St Patrick’s Church, Mululug, followed by burial at Bunakranagh Cemetery, Curry, Ko Sligo.

Those looking to see the masses can do so at Dermot Horkan funeral directors, at home, and on Facebook.

Murphy frequently missed his “sad” parents Geraldine and Redmond and siblings O’Shea and Diet, as noted on his RIP.ie list.

The list also states that Murphy will be remembered by his grandmothers, Rachel Jackson, girlfriend of Bridget Murphy and Maura Lavigne, aunts of Sally Lavigne and husband Eugene, Breda and husband Barry, uncles of Seamus Murphy and his wife Lizzie, Gary. Murphy and her husband, Neil’s wife. Declan Murphy and his wife Deirdre, Jarlat and his wife Marie, Ambrose Lavigne and his wife Marie, his entire family, cousins, neighbors, friends, Carrie Ja’s classmates, his DCU classmates, his classmates and the larger community of Sligo Jaa.

The man from Sligo was honored with his club Curry GAA over the weekend: “This is a terrible tragedy for the Murphy family, our club and our community.

“We are deeply saddened by these events. Our thoughts and thoughts are with the family and friends of Murphy/Lavigne. The Red Ogg was a member of the Curry GAA Club and I truly miss everyone who knew him.

“We have contacted her parents and they have asked everyone to understand the need for their privacy at this difficult time. Supportive quotes have arrived and are greatly appreciated.

The club is open to all, for their support and advice and guidance. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”

While Sligo GAA stated, “Sligo GAA was deeply shocked by the sudden death of Red Og Murphy. We knew Red Ogg as a public figure with superb mathematical skills, but he was first and foremost a son and a brother. Our first thoughts are with his family, then with his colleagues, friends and colleagues at the team.

“Now what matters to us is respecting the family’s privacy and supporting those who have known, played and worked with the Red Og as players and coaches, and especially the Curry GAA Club community, who want to be remembered and celebrated for their contribution to their community and their lives.”

Currently, all GAA activities in the Southern Sligo region have been postponed. Matches elsewhere and matches involving national teams will continue because we believe that whenever possible, it is best to bring people together to meet, talk and remember them in the normal GAA environment.

“We are very grateful for the support provided by our colleagues at Croke Park and the general GAA community over the past 24 hours.
