New details come to light after the serious accident Wednesday afternoon in Vienna-Favorit: The car that collided with a Kik branch was previously stolen. At least one of the prisoners – a girl – is only 16 years old. The accident left two injured, some seriously.
At about 2:30 p.m., the driver of the stolen car lost control and crashed into the clothing store on the corner of Laxenburger Strasse and Buchengasse. The consequences were devastating: two customers – a 60-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl – suffered serious injuries in the accident and had to be taken to hospital.
There were four men and a woman in the car, the Viennese police reported in the afternoon via broadcast based on witness statements. The suspects fled immediately after the accident.
Return to the scene of the accident
The woman — she turned out to be only 16 years old — returned to the scene on her own during the course of the operation, police spokeswoman Barbara Gass said. The girl will be interrogated, further investigations are in full swing.
The accident also caused significant property damage. The exact amount is still unclear, explains Kik director Dietrich Heumann. The branch will remain closed for the time being.
