Dani Alves, Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus, not on Brazil’s list

Date:

The Brazil team will play their final friendlies before the World Cup in Qatar with a forward line consisting of Neymar, Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, Raphina and Mateus Cunha.

The big absentees from the squad for Brazil’s friendlies against Tunisia and Ghana at the end of September in France are Philippe Coutinho, Gabriel Jesus and Dani Alves.

Brazilian coach Adenor Leonardo Bacchi ‘Tite’ has sent a message to all players with call-up options and asked them to prepare at their “highest” level if they want to go to Qatar.

“It’s hard. Either the player is producing at his highest level or he’s out,” Tite settled at a press conference.

Dani Alves, out of form

The absence of former Barça player Dani Alves, who is now at the Mexican Pumas, is due to the fact that he does not have the necessary physical condition, because he did not make “adequate preparations” when he arrived at his new team and also because gastroenteritis that “affected his performance”, as explained by the Brazilian team’s physical trainer, Fábio Mahseredjian.

The only right-back on the list is Danilo, but Tite made it clear that he could use Éder Militão, from Real Madrid, who at the beginning of his career played in that position, in that position.

The surprising absence of Gabriel Jesus

In Coutinho’s case, his absence was due to his drop in performance at the start of the season with Aston Villa, while Gabriel Jesus’ absence was surprising as he had scored three goals in the first six Premier League games and one of keys that explain the leadership of Arsenal, a club the striker joined from Manchester City this summer.

Pedro, Gleison and Ibañez, news

In his place, Tite called on Pedro, the top scorer in the Copa Libertadores with his 12 goals with Flamengo, the competition’s new finalist. The striker has played one match for the Brazilian senior team, his debut in November 2020 against Venezuela in a qualifying match for the 2022 World Cup.

Other new arrivals are central defenders Gleison Bremer (Juverntus) and Roger Ibañez (Roma), who made their debut in the call-up for the ‘canarinha’.

Brazil will play in Paris against Ghana on September 23 in Le Havre and against Tunisia on September 27 in Paris in the final friendlies before the World Cup in Qatar.
