Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui was disappointed with the draw in Copenhagen (0-0), the team’s first point of the tournament, as he believes they did enough to win, although he appreciated the solid defence.
“We’re leaving sad, I think we’ve done well to win. It’s not easy to have five or six chances in the Champions League,” he said at the post-match press conference.
Lopetegui emphasized that in this competition it is important to dominate areas and the team does not know how to be effective.
“It was a shame not to take advantage of the opportunities, but in the end we got a point and we will do everything in the double cross with Dortmund,” he said.
The Sevilla coach emphasized that this was the first game with a clean sheet, thanks to a good defensive attitude, and acknowledged the work of young Carmona and Salas.
The changes in the second half were to try to get more of the goal, but the coach admitted that there are too many players who still need to pick up the pace.
He also had words of praise for Isco, whose game was “good”, although after two seasons with almost no games and several games in a row, he came up a little short in the last minutes.
“Isco is going to mark an era at this club, I’m sure,” said Lopetegui, convinced that when the entire squad picks up rhythm and confidence, “we’re going to perform much better.”
