Tony Bou (Montesa), who on Saturday secured his thirty-second world title and sixteenth in open air, ended the competition this Sunday with a new victory, the seventh coursein the Italian town of Ponte di Legno.
In a final test that was easier than the day before, because the organization made some changes in some areas of the route that reduced the difficulty of the race, Toni Bou achieved the victory with 8 penalty points.
After him they finished the Italian Matteo Gattarola (Beta), won on Saturday, and also Spanish adam rag (TRRS).
With this Sunday’s victory at Ponte di Legno, the Repsol Honda Trial Team rider closed the 2022 season with a total of seven victories, three second places and a new TrialGP world crown, the sixteenth in a row.
“I’m very happy with how the weekend went. Now my pressure is reduced, although it’s complicated because it’s an easy race where you can’t make many mistakes. In fact, I added five for stopping in the fifth section, a place that was relatively easy, and then I had to recover,” said Bou in the statements released by his team.
“Back then, Adam Raga was still down to zero, Matteo Grattarola only had 3 penalty points and I had 6. It wasn’t easy, but we fought well and we achieved a victory with a very good last lap, adding only 1 point”, he added.
“I am very happy and grateful to the team. Again, we had a very good season, with 7 wins, 3 second places and not getting off the podium. The team worked hard but we have room to continue improving. We are working hard on the bike and I am sure we will continue to make steps forward,” he concluded.
The next appointment on the calendar is next Sunday, September 25, in Monza (Italy), venue of the Trial of Nations.
