The Galician Martín de la Puente, 23 years old, and number 6 in the ITF ranking of wheelchair tennis players, and sports partner of the Frenchman, Nicolás Peifer, became the first Spanish player to win the Grand Slam in the wheelchair category.

De la Puente and Peifer, with this Grand Slam, added their third victory of the year together in doubles. The other two titles are the British Open and Open Toyota Ile de Ré in France.
