Spain is sixth in the Motocross of Nations 2022

Date:

The Spanish motocross team, composed of Jorge Prado, Rubén Fernández and Guillem Farrés, achieved the second best result in history at the Motocross of Nations, sixth place, in what is considered the world championship for national teams played in RedBud ( Michigan ) in the United States.

The host team, the USA, lifted their coveted “Chamberlain Trophy” for the twenty-third time, joined by France and Australia on the final podium.

Prado, Fernández and Farrés arrived in the American arena with the hope of breaking through to the coveted podium for the first time, which can only be reached by the nine best drivers on the planet. After Saturday’s practice sessions Spain was placed in fourth position with a brilliant performance by all riders (Prado 5th, Fernández 4th, Farrés 4th). The sensations were very good and, facing Sunday, they started in a good position on the grid.

Incessant rain on Saturday night and all day Sunday left the circuit very muddy and suitable only for specialists. In the first round, Jorge Prado managed to finish in 6th place and Farrés in 25th, after a crash. In the second round Rubén Fernández signed the best Spanish result, 5th place, while Guillem again suffered in the mud with two falls without consequences relegating him to 27th position.

In the final and decisive race, Jorge Prado finished 7th and Rubén Fernández 8th, putting the Spanish team in sixth place, just one point behind the Belgian team.

This result equals the sixth place achieved by Barragán/Campano/Lozano at Budds Creek (USA) in 2007. However, Spain’s best result at the Motocross of Nations is still in Namur (Belgium) in 2004 with the team composed by Vico/Lozano/Bernárdez.
