The Kenyan athlete Marius Kipseremwinner of Rotterdam marathon (The Netherlands) in 2016 and 2019, is suspended for three years for dopingthe Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced Thursday.
Kipserem, 34, tested positive for the recombinant erythropoietin (EPO) in an out-of-competition control where the August 17th spent in Kapsabet (Kenya).
The athlete, according to the AIU in its statement, denied in principle that he doped and could not explain the reason for the presence of a prohibited substance in his body, but on October 11 he acknowledged his violation and accepted the consequences .
The guilty plea reduces the penalty of four provided for the anti-doping regulations for these cases by one year.
Your results achieved after August 17, 2022 are canceled and you cannot compete for three years from last September 22.
Marius Kipserem won the Rotterdam marathon for the second time in 2019 with a time of 2:04:11, which was the Dutch race record at the time.
