Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime, second favorite, and American Sebastian Korda will play in the Antwerp ATP final after defeating, respectively, Frenchman Richard Gasquet and Austrian Dominik Thiem.
Auger Aliassime made it seven wins in a row after defeating Gasquet, champion of this tournament in 2016. Toni Nadal’s pupil, world number ten, in the middle of the race for a place in the ATP Finals, needs of two tiebreaks to overcome the French veteran ( 7-6(2) and 7-6(3)), in a duel without a service break on either side throughout the match.
In two hours and three minutes the Canadian, champion last week in Florence and new in Rotterdam, this 2022, the only titles of his career, closed the clash.
The Montreal player will play in the final against American Sebastian Korda who defeated Austrian Dominik Thiem. He won 6-7(4), 6-3 and 7-6(4) in two hours and 47 minutes.
It will be the second final of the season for the American, a finalist last week in Gijón, where he lost to Russian Andrey Rublev. Korda has won eight of his last nine matches and aims to add Antwerp to Parma’s title, his only one so far.
