FIFA can regulate the coaching market

Date:

This past week was marked by the march of Unai Emery in Aston Villaafter receiving an irresistible offer from the English club and abandoning the discipline of Villarreal in the middle of time. That is, leaving the project in the middle and where the Spanish club only received the existing clause in the event of this happening. But the question that arises then is: How is it possible that this option exists where one club can take the coach from another?

The truth is, unlike what happens with players, the coaching market is free. It is not limited like it is with soccer players. This is how it was collected Regulation on the Transfer of Players Act. And what the following says about the players:

“A player may register during one of two annual registration periods set by the respective association.”

It is in article 6 about the registration periods where it also defines two windows during which it can be carried out: “The first registration period begins on the first day of the period, subject to the following temporary exceptions. The period it should not last more than twelve weeks.

While “The second registration period will begin in the middle of the season and should not last more than four weeks.” Outside of these deadlines, there are only a few exceptions that allow players to sign.

The same can happen in the case of coaches if FIFA decided to regulate these markets. Some times where, as is logical, there is always an exceptional technician who is dismissed. In this case you can always find a replacement to be supplied. That is, unless he is fired, a coach can only be “signed” by another club in the windows set by the highest body in the world of football.

A regulation that each Federation can adapt, based on the principles of FIFA. So, for example, in our competition the RFEF This allows the club not to be obliged to pay the dismissed coach until the end of the current season and the beginning of the next. If this does not happen, the team will not be able to register a new coach for the next season, nor will it be able to register players. Except RFEF it only allows a team to be without a coach for a maximum of two weeks, and a temporary coach can occupy this spot on the bench.
