Karim Benzema shared his feelings before the World Cup in Qatar in an interview with L’Équipe channel. The Real Madrid forward and new Ballon d’Or player explained the nature of the injury he has been dealing with in recent weeks with just seven days to go before the French team’s debut against Australia in the finals in Qatar.
“I’m fine. I had a little pain, but not a tear or a big injury”, Benzema said about his muscular discomfort. “I can play but not 100%. It’s not about taking risks or not, it’s just that I’m not at 100%, I’ve had a little discomfort. Since then, I’ve worked well in gym.”
Half time from October 19
Benzema played his last full game on October 19. Since that Elche-Real Madrid he only participated in the half-time final of the Real Madrid-Celtic Champions League match played on November 2.
Benzema is still not fully recovered because today, after 15 consecutive runs, he left training and could not touch the ball, so he did not participate in the training match with his Clairefontaine teammates. Tomorrow the French team will travel to Qatar.
