Bikes don’t breathe on DAZN, the leading global sports streaming platform, offering motoring fans ‘Champion Stories’, a series of three interviews with the 2022 champions: ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia on MotoGP, Augusto Fernández in Moto2 and Izan Guevara in Moto3.
For pecco bagnaia, winning with Ducati became a dream come true: “When I signed for Ducati, this was my goal, this was my dream. And when I’m at home, I sometimes wonder if I chose the best team for my future. And then he always tells me: ‘Yes, this is the best team. This is my dream and that if I manage to win the title, with this bike and with this team, it will have a special flavor'”, he explained.
After proclaiming himself the Moto2 world champion, Augusto Fernandez He admitted that, once, he saw the title disappear: “It has been my best season, with ups and downs, of course. We didn’t get off to the start we hoped for, but I didn’t lose faith in my team. In Malaysia it was the hardest, I saw the title slipping away from me because I expected to fight for the win with Ogura and I did it for the fourth or fifth position without doing anything”, he commented as he looked to his next challenge, the MotoGP.
“The confidence that a title gives you is greater than if you didn’t win it. And being a MotoGP rider is what anyone wants for their career. I think I have a good team, Pol (Espargaró) as a teammate has a lot of experience. I look forward to learning from everyone. I think I’m ready as a driver, as a person. We are here and now we have to try to be a top rider also in MotoGP and one day fight for the title, which is the next dream”.
For his part, Izan Guevara is also clear about his next goal, after being the best in Moto3: “For me, next year in Moto2, I hope to be the rookie of the year, it’s my goal,” he says.
