After voicing his opinion on the war between LIV and the rest of the professional golf circuit, Tiger Woods painted a bleak picture Tuesday about how well he can play golf and said so “I don’t have much left at this stage.”
Woods wisely avoided other questions, including details of two unexpected surgeries he underwent last year and whether the 20 players participating in the Hero World Challenge should earn world ranking points. Woods is at Albany Golf Club strictly hosting the tournament, which he will not be able to play due to plantar fasciitis, as he announced Monday.
The American announced that his next two events will be a 12-hole televised match on December 10 and the PNC Championship with his son next weekend, cars allowed. “I can hit the ball and take any shot. I just can’t walk”he said.
Woods said his plantar fasciitis was related to injuries he suffered in a car accident in Los Angeles in February 2021, ending any hope he could play regularly. “When you have plantar fasciitis, the worst thing you can do is walk, and I kept walking more and kept making things worse”he said after the months of play he added last year.
So, the player is clear about his challenges. “The goal is to play only the ‘majors’ and maybe one or two more tournaments.. That’s all. Physically, that’s all I can do.”
