Morocco reached a historic milestone on Saturday in Qatar: after endless failed attempts, multiple traumatic defeats, an African team reached the semi-finals of a World Cup for the first time. An unprecedented achievement that deserves a big celebration. So the fans of the Maghreb country once again took to the streets in several cities in the Murcia region to celebrate the standings, as with previous victories.

Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca and Torre Pacheco are some of the scenarios painted red and green. After the final whistle, the painful agony of the game came to an end and was replaced by ecstasy. Dressed in T-shirts, scarves and flags, the citizens of Moroccan descent celebrated the success with music, songs and sparklers.

In Lorca, the festivities were centered in the San Diego Park, which was packed with fans. According to what the local police of the municipality told LA VERDAD, some 1,700 people gathered there for a celebration that went off without incident.

In Murcia, one of the points with the most influx was the San Andrés district, where a large part of the collective present in the capital lives. Area residents and other fans from different parts of the city honked their cars and even launched fireworks to express their joy at their team’s victory.
