The football coach of Japanese, Hajime Moriyasuwill remain in place after Qatar 2022, making him the first coach of the “blue samurai” to remain in place after the World Cup, according to leaks to the Kyodo news agency.
The coach’s continuation is expected to be formalized at an upcoming meeting of the Japan Football Association (JFA) board, the agency announced on Sunday, citing sources familiar with the matter. The details of his contract will be determined later, he added.
The technical committee of the JFA has prepared a list of potential candidates for the position before the World Cup, among which is the Argentine Marcelo Bielsa, according to the report of the aforementioned media outlet, but the Japanese football organization has decided to keep Moriyasu after his World Cup performance.
Moriyasu, 54, led the “blue samurai” to the round of 16 of the recently held World Cup in Qatar 2022 with surprise victories over Germany and Spain, both World Cup champions, which put Japan at the head of the complex Group AND .
