Loeb: “It’s been hell”

Date:

The French Sebastien Loeb (Prodrive) this Monday described as “hell” the second stage of the Dakar Rally, in which he surrendered almost an hour and a half compared to the winner of the day, the Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah, a difference that he considers insurmountable with Toyota and with the general leader, the Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Audi).

“It’s been hell throughout the special. We had three punctures and had to fix a tire with the fuse. Driving-wise, it’s been interesting. We’ve done our best to drive slowly, but there’s nothing we can do, nothing fits our tires . and all”, he assured after crossing the finish line.

The nine-time world rally champion acknowledged that his chances of winning the raid were gone. “I wasn’t thinking about the general classification anymore. When I saw the route of the special, I thought we had to finish it even if we lost half an hour. But we didn’t succeed, so I gave it up for lost”, he confessed. .
