The Russian army has attacked Ukraine with combat drones for the fifth night in a row. The capital Kiev, the regions of Poltava, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Kherson were hit. Conversely, the Russian side also repeatedly reports drone attacks.
In Ukraine, there were air warnings in many parts on Monday evening. For days, the Russian army is increasingly attacking at night with Iranian Shahed-136 kamikaze combat drones. The Ukrainian government accuses Iran of supplying these drones to the Russian military. So far there is no confirmation from the other two affected countries.
Russian military bloggers reported that in addition to Kiev, Poltava, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions were hit. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a 19-year-old boy had to be hospitalized after an explosion in a Kiev neighborhood. The attacks in the capital allegedly damaged the energy infrastructure again. There are power cuts that would also affect the heat supply. However, the water supply is running normally.
22 drones shot down
The Ukrainian air defense announced that 22 drones were shot down in Kiev. In total there were 43 and one missile. The Russian side also regularly reports drone strikes by their wartime adversary. According to Governor Alexander Bogomas, energy infrastructure was hit on Monday in the Bryansk region near the Russian border. As a result, the power went out in one place. There were no injuries.
63 Russian soldiers were killed in rocket attacks on a temporary shelter in the occupied city of Makiivka in the Donbass. This is the highest number of deaths in a single location that the Russians have named. Numbers of killed forces are hardly mentioned. Telegram channels near the Kremlin and war correspondents had previously reported more than 70 dead and at least 100 wounded in Makiivka.
Celebrated New Year?
Media reported that reservists had gathered in the construction hit to celebrate the new year. The Ukrainian army became aware of the location due to the high data traffic with mobile phones.
