The Spanish Carlos Alcaraznumber one in the world, will participate in the Open of Argentina to be held at Buenos Aires between February 11 and 19, as reported by the tournament organization on Wednesday.
“The truth is that I was very excited to be able to go to Argentina, to play there,” Alcaraz said in a video posted by the Argentina Open on his Twitter account.
Alcaraz, 19, who has led the world ranking since September 2022 after winning the US Openwill start his season in Buenos Aires, as he will not be able to play in the Australian Open due to injury.
“It is an honor and good news for Argentine sports to be able to play Carlos Alcaraz, number 1 in the world, in our tournament. The 2023 edition is not to be missed,” the tournament director, Martín Jaite, said in a statement.
