Date:

the portuguese pilot Miguel Oliveira He assured that his ambition is to “become world champion” of MotoGP, something that will “happen soon”, and attributed his move from the KTM team to RNF Aprilia to the need to “experience new opportunities”.

In an interview with Portuguese radio station Antena 1, Oliveira emphasized the “comfort” the Austrian KTM has given him in his career, but said he is looking for “new opportunities” to finally win the MotoGP title.

“KTM has given me a lot of comfort for my sports career (…), but deep down I know that’s not what I want. I want to experience new opportunities and become world champion, which I think will happen soon,” Oliveira said.

The 28-year-old Portuguese rider recently said goodbye to KTM after a long relationship that began in 2015, then in the Moto3 category.

Oliveira has been the team’s most successful rider in MotoGP, with four Grand Prix victories.

Now he will represent the Malaysian RNF, where he will join Raúl Fernández from Madrid.

In addition, he will once again ride an Aprilia, like when he debuted in the Moto3 World Championship at the age of just 16.

“Honestly, I believed that there are moments in our lives when we have to change. There are trains that pass only once and you have to take advantage of those opportunities. I longed for that change and to get out of my comfort zone,” he said.

The next MotoGP season will start at the end of next March with the Grand Prix of Miguel Oliveira’s native country, Portugal, which will be held at the Algarve International Autodrome, in Portimão.
