Last October, the confiscated yacht of Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov disappeared from a Croatian port. The authorities only now noticed the disappearance. The prosecutor is investigating.
“Something like this should not happen. I share the dissatisfaction about the disappearance of the confiscated yacht,” Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Tuesday. At the same time, he announced the consequences for everyone responsible for the failure. He expects reports from the responsible ministries and all relevant services.
Shipping in Turkey?
According to data from the marinetraffic.com website, the Sunseeker 115 boat left the Croatian port on October 6 and entered the Turkish port of Didim three days later. This is also the last known whereabouts. The 35-meter yacht Irina VU is one of five oligarch yachts seized in Croatia as a result of Russian sanctions. She was in the dry dock of a marina on the island of Murter. According to media reports, the yacht with a Croatian crew first left the marina and later Croatian waters near Dubrovnik as usual.
Green light to exit
The boat would have passed the harbor master, customs and border police without any problems. The sanctions should not be mentioned anywhere, which is why all services have given the green light for their phasing out, it said. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs confirmed last week that it had been notified of the arrival at the port of Didim. The public prosecutor’s office and the Croatian intelligence service became involved in the investigation into the circumstances of the disappearance.
