The former Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan in Central Asia has tightened its entry and residence rules. Foreigners from the Eurasian Economic Union led by Russia are allowed to stay in Kazakhstan without a visa for a maximum of 90 days every six months. Kazakhstan is increasingly becoming a target for conscientious objectors and Russian members of the opposition.
So far, the Russians have managed to briefly cross the border and re-enter after 90 days. After the European Union largely closed its borders to Russians because of Moscow’s war of aggression against Ukraine, Kazakhstan developed into one of the main target countries for Russian opposition members and conscientious objectors.
According to media reports, more than 200,000 Russians have traveled to Kazakhstan since the partial mobilization called for by Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin in late September. You are now threatened with deportation.
