Speech to supporters – France elections: Macron clearly ahead in polls

Date:

Staged as a sporting event, French President Emmanuel Macron mobilized his supporters during his only major election campaign event. “We are here to convince, for our future project for France and Europe,” Macron cried, as he entered the Paris La Défense Arena, burning huge stars and numerous government members participating in a La Ola wave.

Macron announced, among other things, a tax-free bonus of up to 6,000 euros for employees. The minimum pension must be 1100 euros. Macron stressed that there would be an enforceable right to childcare.

“Fight against child bullying”
The elderly need to be supported so that they can continue to live in their own homes for longer. “The fight against bullying against children must be strengthened,” Macron said. In the future, primary school children should exercise for half an hour a day.

Opinion polls: Marie Le Pen in second place
The crowd waved French and European flags and chanted “Macron President”. Macron has been consistently ahead in the polls for weeks. However, since then he has lost the extra points he had gained at the start of the war in Ukraine. The gap to his likely second-round challenger, the right-wing populist Marine Le Pen, narrowed again. The elections will take place on April 10 and 24.
