Lens missed the chance to reach PSG

Date:

Lens avoided defeat at Troyes (1-1) thanks to a goal two minutes from time by Adrien Thomasson, but the draw was not enough to keep their pressure on Ligue 1 leaders PSG, who hosted Ligue 1 on Sunday. Reims in their match on the twentieth day.

Frank Haise’s team missed a good chance to temporarily catch up with the champions in the table. However, he wasted his trip to the Stade de l’Aube, the venue of a team that went into the clash with two successive defeats and threatened relegation.

Yasser Larouci’s goal, from Xavier Chavalerin’s pass in the 50th minute that put the locals ahead, changed the expected script.

Lens, who have lost just one game this year, back in September against Lille, were desperate for an equalizer which did not come until the 88th minute when Adrien Thomasson, who minutes earlier had replaced Colombian Deiver Machado, was beaten Gauthier Gallon.

The point leaves Lens in second place, two behind Paris Saint-Germain. Troyes is four away from the relegation zone set by Brest.
