Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton’s coach, has expressed his wish for Moisés Caicedo to stay with his team until the end of the season but he is ready for his team to continue competing if he finally signs for Arsenal or Chelsea before the end of the market on Tuesday from January.
On Friday, the 21-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder made public via Instagram his desire to leave Brighton after he rejected an offer of 70 million euros from Arsenal and earlier this month another from in Chelsea 62 ‘kilo’ .
According to the ‘Mail on Sunday’, Arsenal raised their offer to 80 million but Brighton wanted 90 to release a key player in their scheme.
“Caicedo is a very, very good guy,” De Zerbi told the press today after the game where Brighton eliminated champion Liverpool in the 1/16 final of the FA Cup (2-1).
From Zerbi, ready for everything
“I understand it, when you are 21 years old and you receive an offer from a good, good team that plays in the European competition,” De Zerbi considered before explaining his personal position: “We will see tomorrow and the next few days what happens. I want to finish the season with us, but we are ready to continue without him.”
Brighton, who have just moved Belgian winger Leandro Trossard to Arsenal after falling out with De Zerbi, are not interested in selling Caicedo due to his strong performances this season.
A mistake but there is always a solution
“I was surprised, but I understand where the mistake started. Moisés is a good person. In life you can make mistakes. In everything there are many solutions. We will find the best solution for him and for us”, affected De Caicedo’s situation is so bad that Brighton gave him a break until Tuesday, the deadline of the transfer market, so he did not play against Liverpool today.
Brighton are sixth in the Premier League and, if they stay in this position, they will qualify for European competitions for the first time in the club’s history.
