Finally some good news for Liverpool, Real Madrid’s rivals in the Champions League round of 16: Diogo Jota is back soon after suffering an injury on October 16, 2022 that left him unable to participate in Portugal’s 2022 World Cup in Qatar and Jürgen Klopp’s team, without one of its players capable of unbalancing a match and changing its course. As reported by the Liverpool Echo portal, this Wednesday the Portuguese winger trained for the first time since his illness with total normality with his teammates to complete the session.
Jota is about to make another appearance like this, although, always according to the said media, that he does it on Monday in the Premier derby against Everton is too early. Liverpool don’t want to take chances and more remembering the relapse that Luis Díaz suffered in November. Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino are also completing their respective recoveries.
After playing this Monday the great Merseyside derby against EvertonLiverpool will visit Newcastle on Saturday, February 18 (in an important meeting for the ‘reds’ options to continue fighting to access the next Champions League) and on the 21st host Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
Diogo Jota suffered a leg injury at the discount of the Premier match at Anfield against Manchester City (1-0 win) for Liverpool). After suffering an illness, the Portuguese is yet to score no goals at Liverpool so far this season. In Portugal Jota scored a goal in the Nations League against the Czech Republic on 24 September.
In the 2021-22 season, Diogo Jota has scored 21 goals for Liverpool in all competitions. The 26-year-old Portuguese international (who played for Atlético between 2016 and 2018) signed for the ‘red’ club in 2020 from Wolves. He played 29 games in Portugal and scored 10 goals for his team.
