Sainz added that his car feels “similar” to the one he drove last season. The Spaniard was the fastest in the morning session, but was relegated to sixth place in the evening hours, in which he did not participate.
“I’m very happy with the way we were able to run the amount of testing we did in the first few days, exploring the limits of the setup, trying to put the car in different places and learn a lot from it, which a goal I had last year and I couldn’t do it and now I can do it,” he told Formula 1.
The Madrid driver, who won last year’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone, explained that the car was “like an evolution from last year”.
“Honestly, the driving feeling is very similar and there are no big changes to the car or the concept, so it’s all about building on the good base we had last year, and obviously now we’re focusing on the weaknesses that it has. by 2022,” he warned.
