KEY FIGURES IN ATHLETICS

Josep Molins is a great lover of athletics. From a young age, apart from competing, he was also a national coach and managed several champions. He was, among others, the coach of Carme Valero, double cross world champion in 1976 and 1977, and Miguel Quesada, twice Olympian, among others. And as an organizer, he has been a key figure in the competitions held so far in Sabadell, from the Spanish Track and Cross Championships to other events related to Indoor Track.

After retirement, he continued to be linked to athletics from all possible aspects, be it as a coach, manager, selector or teacher. In 2014 he received the Royal Order of Sports Merit granted by Higher Sports Council (CSD).

Rest in peace, since this Thursday, March 2, the Spanish athletes have been left a little more orphaned, because as I said Thomas Bartis in tribute to RFEA: “Talking about José Molins is talking about athletics in its purest essence. He is a man who always lives, and continues to do so, so that the elevation of our sport never fails . I personally classify him as an “All Terrain” of Catalan and Spanish athletics. He is a born fighter and above all a winner, who does not give up if things at the club deviate from normality”.
