The Tour de France leaves San Mamés in 100 days. For this reason, Athletic participated today with the Bilbao City Council, the Provincial Council and a delegation from the great event in France, led by its director Christian Prudhomme, in the symbolic action of the countdown. President Jon Uriarte and the captains of the first teams, Garazi Murua and Iker Muniain, acted as hosts to the ibaigane entity.
The esplanade of San Mamés itself served as a meeting point where the entire rojiblanco stadium was illuminated in yellow. Uriarte presented Prudhomme in this framework with a rojiblanco commemorative jersey of the 125th anniversary.
The countdown action of the cycling race in the Biscayan capital started a few minutes earlier next to the town hall of Botxo. Juan Mari Aburto, Mayor of Bilbao, Bingen Zubiria, Minister of Culture, Elixabete Etxanobe, Provincial Councilor for Public Administration, and Christian Prudhomme pressed the button on the countdown clock. From there the procession left for San Mamés.
These actions to celebrate the countdown to the arrival of the Tour in Euskadi will continue tomorrow, Thursday, in Gasteiz and on Friday, in Donostia.
