The Kazakhoz TeamBadajoz cycling team whose name is based on the important Kazakh school of this sport, has caught the attention of the country’s embassy in Central Asia itselfwhose diplomatic facilities had the opportunity to meet the people in charge of the Badajoz squad, who dreamed of visiting Kazakhstan.
The head of the team, José Antonio Sánchez, told EFE that the name of this squad is part of his stay in Catalonia, where he lived for work reasons and where he worked as a runner and race director for a Terrassa team, a phase during which he was nicknamed “Vinokourov”, in reference to the famous Kazakh cyclist.
Sánchez returned to Badajoz in 2018, where with other fans of this sport he decided to create a team, because every time they compete in a test “each one wears a different jersey”.
During training, they decided to call the most difficult session “Kazakh training”.another reason why they named the team as Kazakhoz.

});
The team also works in the quarry, and in one of the sessions a child He asked them if the name was the result of “the amalgamation of Cáceres and Badajoz”an original question “another reason to think that the assigned name has been perfected”.
Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Spain, Danat Mussayev, found out about the existence of Kazakhoz after seeing a video made by the team itself on social networks after an interview with its members during a visit to Extremadura by the Tour of Spain, after that he began to investigate this group.
The team members were surprised when they received a call from the embassy where they were thanked for the realization of this sports project and where they were even invited to visit the diplomatic facilities in Madrid.
So, a Kazakhoz representation shared a “very pleasant and close” day in Madrid last week, where the embassy conveyed the intention to strengthen the relationship with the Badajoz squad.
The Extremaduran team’s dream is clear, to visit Kazakhstan, and learn more about the country and about the Astana squad, one of the great entertainers of the most important cycling round in recent years. “It’s a dream to be able to train with its members,” Sánchez admitted.
