Bad luck for Molina’s Ferrari at the 6 Hours of Spa and Albert Costa shines

Date:

After a good start by the two Ferraris in the 6 Hours of Spa, with the number 51 leading the 50 of the Catalan Miguel Molina crew, the day was twisted for those in red. The Toyota did not disappoint and regained the first and second positions, especially after the failure of the number 6 Porsche, which exceeded the allowed energy limit in a stint, something for which he was forced to retire. From then on, the Japanese did not relinquish the first two places to achieve another double which will once again show their great efficiency in the event before the centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Toyota 7 of ‘Pechito’ Lopez, Kobayashi and Conway achieved success and his brother, the Toyota 8 of Buemi, Hartley and Hiarakawa then second.

At the back, the excitement is in the fight for third position. The Ferrari #50 of Miguel Molinaafter a lot of paddling and after a ‘drive through’, it seemed in his face to add his third consecutive podium in three races, but the tires played on a car that seemed to struggle to warm them up.

After a great stint of Molina, his teammate Antonio Fuoco, with cold tires, lost control of his Ferrari 499P and went into the wall when exiting the track. Luckily for Ferrari, another red car managed to save that podium for those from Maranello, Giovinazzi’s #51, Calado and Pier Guidi. He did this by beating the #5 Porsche on the final lap of the test.

Albert Costa, stellar podium

In LMP2, Albert Costa shone again with a great performance, especially in a final stint from the Catalan that was key for his car, Inter Europol Competition number #34, to achieve his first podium of the year. Albert outperformed three rivals. He took the 6th car and brought it to the drawer. Stellar.
