He Ajax from Amsterdam, after a disappointing campaign, is working on the transfer market. Traditionally, the Dutch club does good business (buy well and sell better) and now it wants to take advantage of the sale of one of its main supporters: the Mexican midfielder Edson Alvarez.
It seems the Bundesliga is his next destination. According to ‘De Telegraaf’ and ‘Voetbal International’, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are engaged in a fierce battle for the Ajax player’s services. Because of his contract, which runs until mid-2025, Ajax could demand a hefty transfer fee: those interested would have to put at least 40 million euros on the table.
Edson Álvarez was acquired by Ajax from Mexican America in the summer of 2019 for fifteen million euros. Since then he has played 144 games in all competitions, scoring 13 goals. The Mexican could be reunited at Bayern with Ryan Gravenberch, Daley Blind and Noussair Mazraoui. In Dortmund he will do it with Sébastien Haller.
