The Tyrolean Neos boss Dominik Oberhofer recently panicked in the Tyrolean state parliament: Postenschacher suspicion against the ÖVP and a colossal compensation for party founder Matthias Strolz in Vienna were too much for him! Together with the opposition, he responds to the vacation of former ÖVP state councilor Johannes Tratter: the audit office must serve.
State parliament chairman Sonja Ledl-Rossmann (ÖVP) had to threaten twice to interrupt the session in the most recent state parliament, so much so that the tempers of some representatives became heated. It was – unfortunately not – about the effective control of Tyrolean electricity prices, but about the appointment of ex-council member Johannes Tratter as technical director at Neue Heimat Tirol. Which probably affects far fewer people directly.
LH spokesperson rejected false reports
The boss of Neos, who was sometimes so indignant with anger that he confused fact and fiction, stood out in particular. Dominik Oberhofer spanned the bow back to 2019 and put the same Postenschacher in Tyrol as in the Kurz era. In particular, he brought up the appointment of FPÖ candidate Peter Sidlo as CFO of Casinos Austria, where the same personnel office worked as now at Tratter. LH spokesman Anton Mattle subsequently felt compelled to correct the “misinformation” that the office had recommended to Sidlo. He also strongly rejects the mixing.
LR Gerber: “Know what to do”
“I can only advise the head of the company to watch the video of this session of the state parliament,” said economics LR Mario Gerber, shocked by how a company was carelessly discredited. Addendum: “If I were the head of the company, I’d know all too well what to do,” Gerber probably alluded to a lawsuit.
Vienna consultancy contract as a no-go
But that wasn’t the only time Oberhofer crossed the line. He warmly criticized the consultancy contract of 30,000 euros of his party friend (!) Christoph Wiederkehr in Vienna, which he concluded with party founder Matthias Strolz. No one in the party either. The result was a phone call from Vienna, rumored that party leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger had spent an hour washing her head. But it wasn’t that bad, Oberhofer explains: “I last spoke to Beate in person 14 days ago,” he says.
He spoke to Wiederkehr on the phone: “We discussed it.” Still, he thinks the optics are not the best, even though everything was transparent. “We Neos have a different claim. Certain things must be ruled out in advance, because the message may be false.”
Tyrolean resistance drives up heavy artillery
Unequal treatment and a lack of transparency in the NHT appointment of ex-ÖVP-LR Tratter are not only denounced by the Neos, but also by the other three opposition parties FPÖ, Groenen and List Fritz. After her criticism of the ordering process has so far failed to have the desired effect, leverage is now being applied to the vacation he has taken for 19 consecutive weeks. The National Audit Service should check whether that was legal. If not, Tratter would have to give up his job at the NHT.
