Benfica announced the most expensive signing in its history

A few hours after announcing the renewal of the Argentine center-back Nicholas Otamendi, Benfica have officially signed the signing of Orkun Kökcü, A 22-year-old Turkish midfielder who has been one of the keys to the Eredivisie won by Feyenoord this season.

Kökcü passed the medical examination in Lisbon this morning and then signed the contract that will bind him to Benfica during the next five seasons and will include a termination clause of 150 million euros.

The Portuguese club, which has just won the Primeira Liga, takes one hundred percent of the player’s pass in exchange for 25 million fixed euros, a figure that can rise to 30 million if 30 are met in variables agreed to the operation with Feyenoord.

In this way, Kökcü became the most expensive signing in Benfica’s history surpassing the 24 million euros that the Lisbon club itself paid in 2020 to Almería to include Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez, Now in Liverpool.

Feyenoord transfer record

It is also the highest transfer in Feyenoord’s history, equaling the 25 million euros he received last summer for the sale of Colombian winger Luis Sinisterra to Leeds.

In the statement, Benfica specified that Feyenoord is entitled to a percentage of the capital gains on a future transfer of the player.

Coveted after his best season

Kökcü is wanted by several European clubs after completing the best season of his fledgling career: 12 goals were scored, his personal record, and five assists were distributed.
