The Generalitat de Catalunya does not rule out the presentation of a single candidacy from the Catalan Pyrenees to host the 2030 Winter Olympicsalthough the government of Aragon ultimately did not join the project.
In statements to RAC1, the Catalan minister of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà, explained that the Generalitat proposal continues to be a “collaborative application” in Aragonbecause “it has advantages”, but if the Aragonese government continues to create “too many problems” Catalonia can “show a candidacy”.
“We’ve got the place to choose from. No one has the right to destroy it“, stressed Vilagrà, who avoided” advancing events “because at first he wanted to consume the options of facing a joint candidacy with Aragon.
According to Vilagra, “Catalonia deserves to present the Olympic candidacy” and always “suggests cooperation with other territories”so he still hopes that “everyone is responsible and works positively.”
