American professional triathlete and Ironman world champion taylor knibb joined the female formation of Trek-Segafredoas reported by the American team.
Trek-Segafredo announced the signing of the triathlete, who will debut at the US National Championships to be held in Knoxville and, from then on, Taylor will combine his regular triathlon program with a selection of road races.
Already a Trek-sponsored triathlon athlete, Knibb has racked up wins and medals since turning pro. In 2021, his first full season out of college, he won the World Triathlon Championship Series race in Yokohama and the series finals in Edmonton.
He then faced elite competition at the Collins Cup, where he prevailed, before taking third place at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in St. George. That same year, Knibb also won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in the mixed relay for Team USA.
Knibb’s 2021 season set a high benchmark, but the following year he raised the bar even further. Knibb won the 2022 Ironman World Championship by a wide margin.
“I see cycling events as a parallel path to triathlon. Last year I had a foot injury which is important because it didn’t really heal. I didn’t race all summer, then when I tried to run again it didn’t really get better, but I only found out at the end of the season. The only reason I wanted to try bike racing was to learn,” said the triathlete.
