the Romanian Simona Halepwho has been suspended since last October for alleged doping, has these days a court hearing in London which will decide the sporting future of the former world number one in two weeks.
After testing positive for the substance Roxadustat at the last US Open, Halep was unable to compete again and was unable to clear her case. Now, according to the Romanian press, the tennis player has given his explanations before the court in London and it will give a verdict in his case in about two weeks.
Halep’s team justified doping by referring to intoxication with a nutritional supplement, but the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) later accused the tennis player of irregularities in her biological passport.
Halep, now relegated to position 52 in the rankings, has won Roland Garros and a Wimbledon, in addition to 24 WTA titles, and has been number one on the circuit for 64 weeks.
