32-time test world champion Toni Bou (Repsol Honda) achieved his fifth consecutive victory of the season in the Italian town of Sestriere, which hosted this Saturday, twenty years later, a TrialGP World Championship event, the sixth on the course.
The victory allows the Catalan to increase his advantage in the general classification to nineteen points with the second class, his countryman Jaime Bust (Gas Gas), who finished in third place, behind the Italian from the Beta Trueba team Mateo Grattarola, who finished in second position. The veteran finished in fourth place Adam Raga (TRRS Factory) and fifth, Bou’s partner Gabriel Marcelli.
“From the first lap, Toni Bou showed his high level by leading the standings after beating the twelve action zones with only three penalty points. In the second run, the Repsol Honda rider maintained the same level and took the eighth victory of the season, the fifth in a row”, highlighted the Repsol team in a statement.
Bou is “very happy” with the trial’s progress. “The sensations have been very positive (…) From the first round I felt very comfortable, although in the second I made some mistakes” admitted the leader of the World Championship.
“This result is very positive for the championship, Jaime (Busto) is very strong and we have to continue in the same line of work. Tomorrow the goal is to fight again for victory”, added Bou.
This Sunday the second round of the TrialGP of Italy will be held in Sestriere starting at 09:00.
