In the Premier League there is some concern about Allan Saint-Maximin’s departure to Al-Ahly in exchange for 35 million euros which has not yet been made official.
Apparently, there are some clubs that consider that there is a conflict of interest because Newcastle is owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, so it is questioned whether the transfer price is not excessive so that the club has more financial fair play margin.
Eddie Howe, the coach of the ‘Magpie’, wants to put an end to all these rumours: “We have followed the same rules as all the other clubs of the Premier League. I am sure that we will meet all the necessary criteria to ensure that the deal is on the table,” said the coach, insisting that “it is not different to any other club that sells a player that it owns.
The departure of Saint-Maximin for 35 million euros is directly related to the more likely arrival of Harvey Barnes, now at Chelsea, which is one step away from confirmation. So much so that it can do it on the US tour. “There is hope that it could be, but there is no confirmed deal,” said Howe, who admitted that “he is a player I like, but he still has a contract with Leicester and that is all I can say.”
