Four Russian clubs have appealed against UEFA sanctions

Four clubs from the Russian First Division (CSKA Moscow, Zenit, Dinano Moscow and Sotchi) announced on Friday that they had filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the sanctions imposed on them by UEFA, not included in European competitions. in 2022-2023, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

CSKA announced in a statement that, along with Zenit, Dinano Moscow and Sotchi, it has appealed to CAS. “All clubs have requested that their request be reviewed urgently,” said CSKA, which seeks to “participate in competitions in Europe.”

On May 2, UEFA announced that no Russian club would participate in the 2022-23 European competitions, Champions, Europa League and Conference League. FIFA announced in February the exclusion of UEFA from the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
