Iga Swiatek puts straight into the semifinals in Cincinnati

Swiatek, this year’s champion in Doha, Stuttgart, Roland Garros and Warsaw, needed one hour and 31 minutes to topple Vondrousova, a rival she had already defeated at the 2020 Parisian ‘big’.

The Polish player added his 53rd victory this year and defended the first ranking position since April 2022.

Swiatek continues to compete at a high level, reaching at least the quarterfinals in twelve of the thirteen tournaments played this season.

Of course, he had to overcome the opponent 3-5 in the first set before taking it in the tiebreaker (7-3). Until then, he suffered from the left-handed game of Vondrousova, but the Czech became less.

The second set lasted almost 35 minutes and Swiatek was waiting in the semifinals the winner of the match between Coco Gauff, seventh seed, and the Italian Jasmine Paolini, number 43 and coming from the ranking.
