Undoubtedly, it was not a good year for Paula Badosa in the professional field. A bad start to the season and an untimely back injury derailed his plans in the year that was set to be his return to the elite of world tennis.
Things are very different on the personal front, where the Catalan has found love with Stefanos Tsitsipas, whom she has been dating for three months. A relationship that the couple treats with all the naturalness in the world and that they have no problem showing the world, as they clarified in a recent interview with ‘Clay’.
“I’ll be honest. Stefanos is someone I always follow because I like his style of play, but I also like his physical appearance because he is an attractive guy.. Also, when I listened to his interviews, I realized that he was different. But we never talk. When we finally started talking, I found this amazing person with an amazing soul. At first I didn’t expect it, but when I got to know him better, he surprised me so much and now I’m so happy that we’re together,” explained the former world number 2, who highlighted a surprising aspect of his son’s character man
“I was definitely surprised. He’s shy, but so am I. I will not make the first move. When we first took our time in the relationship, we went slow. However, once we were connected, the connection was very strong and powerful. We have the same personality. It’s a good thing he’s the first step, because I don’t know if he’ll do it. I’m too nervous.”
Badosa, moreover, he was full of praise for Tsitsipas, who he sees as a potential threat to men’s tennis dominance that Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are in contention today.
“Before I met him, I liked how he played, his charisma on the court. He is a fighter, he has variety in his game. He’s a potential number one, easily. He’s one of the best players in the world, but I don’t think he’s reached his limit yet.. It has a lot in it and I’m sure we’ll see a lot more in the future. So I want to support him, because I think his potential is limitless” highlighted the one from Begur, who dreams of winning a Grand Slam title at the same time as him.
“I had an incredible dream in January after watching him play in the final in Melbourne. I hope one day we can make that dream come true. we both work hard, but at the same time we try to have fun off the track. However, on the pitch, we work hard and push and motivate each other every morning to be the best version of ourselves. And that’s something I really want to share. We share the same passion and that helps us improve every day. It will be amazing and we will fight for it. Let’s see if dreams come true” he admitted.
Regarding his injury, Badosa explained that “he is not well right now. It takes time to recover from the stress fracture and it is a long process.. I hope I will be ready in January. Right now I shouldn’t move because it’s the spine and it’s very delicate. Hopefully I’ll be healthy enough to be at the Australian Open.”
Meanwhile, her plan for this season finale is to travel with Tsitsipas. “I want to be with him as long as he wants. We have an amazing relationship, first of all we are best friends and I think that is very important. I play tennis, so I understand the moments very well. The frustration you can have, the pressure you can face. I just want him to know that I’m there for him. In the weeks when I can’t play, like today, I can be with him. Once I start my rehabilitation and recovery, I will return home” he settled.
