“Rubiales has embarrassed us and his resignation is necessary for the prestige of Spain”

Date:

The president of F League, Beatriz Alvarezsaid on Monday that “the resignation of Luis Rubiales “This is news that is necessary because it is restorative for the prestige of Spain and its sport” and he hopes that now “a scenario of institutional respect and cooperation will open with the new leaders of the Spanish Football Federation.”

“He should have been consistent with his actions, which embarrassed us and crossed the boundaries. His resignation should have happened earlier, so as not to reach a Dantesque situation like we have experienced in recent weeks,” he said .

In his opinion, the resignation leaves Rubiales, who was temporarily suspended by FIFA and has a disciplinary file opened by the Sports Administrative Tribunal (TAD) for his behavior in the final of the Women’s World Cup won by Spain on August 20 in Sydney. Spanish football is “faced with the challenge of a rebuilding scenario after the enormous reputational damage caused by its conduct.”

“I hope and wish that from now on there will be a deep internal restructuring and a scenario of institutional respect and cooperation will be opened with the new leaders of the Federation, which will allow us to reach agreements and work from consensus and empathy, in a way together, for the promotion, development, stabilization and maintenance of women’s football,” added the president of the Women’s League.
