Daniele Orsato will whistle for PSV-Sevilla

Date:

We now have a referee for a good Champions League match in between PSV and the Sevillewhich will be directed by one of the best European referees: the Italian Daniel Orsato, one of UEFA’s most veteran and expert players. By far one of the best referees in the world, both in UEFA and FIFA.

This season, it was his debut in the group stage of the Champions League where he whistled a match in the qualifying phase. Last season, he officiated the quarterfinal match between Chelsea and Real Madrid. And he referred to the final of the 2019-2020 edition between PSG and Bayern Munich.

In Italy, also at FIFA level, it is one of the most important in the world. We have the example of the last World Cup, where he whistled three matches, including the semifinal between Argentina and Croatia. He was also appointed for the inaugural match between Qatar and Ecuador, in addition to Argentina’s first grand final in the second match of the group stage against Mexico, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the albiceleste. At 47 years old, he has been international since 2010, being part of the ELITE group in Europe.

This is the sixth time Sevilla have played in Europe, with a balance of two wins and three losses. The definitive last precedent was the match the next day played in February of the same year in the intermediate round of the Europa League. That match ended in a victory for the Netherlands club but it did not prevent Sevilla from winning the Europa League. This is the fourth time that PSV have been whistled, with a balance of one win and two draws. Massimiliano Irrati is on VAR.
