The Turk Deniz Öncü (KTM) led the first day of free practice for the Indonesian Grand Prix at the fastest pace despite the intense heat with 31ºc and humidity of 65% and 59ºc asphalt which forced the pilots to exercise some caution. They had more to lose although neither Masiá nor Sasaki could avoid the fall.
After the Turkish driver, the Brazilian Diogo Moreira (KTM), the new world leader Jaume Masiá (Honda), the Italian Matteo Bertelle (KTM) and the Spaniards Daniel Holgado (KTM) and David Muñoz (KTM) ) qualified.
