In this particular case, article 24 states that regardless of their role in the sport, betting on football is prohibited, so if it is proven that Tonali and Zaniolo did not bet on matches, they will not receive FIGC sanctionsbut the ordinary justices, in this case are inferior to sports.

“On the subjects of rfederal systemdirectors, members and card-carrying members of clubs belonging to the professional sector to place or accept bets, directly or indirectly, including from persons authorized to receive them, relating to the results of official matches organized within the framework of FIGC, FIFA and UEFA,” the aforementioned article read.

The penalty, if this type of crime is confirmed, may include at least 3 years suspension and a fine of at least 25,000 euros.

The Turin Prosecutor’s Office came to the names of the players unexpectedly while investigated a gambling network on illegal sites where Italian organized crime may be involved.
