Date:

The Paris 2024 Paralympic flame will begin its journey on August 25 in the English town of Stoke Mandevillea pioneer of disability sport, and will cross the English Channel to tour France before the event’s grand opening ceremony on August 28.

His England departure pays tribute to the Stoke Mandeville Gameswhich was created in 1948 by Dr. Ludwig Guttmann to help rehabilitate soldiers and victims of World War II.

That competition was a precursor to the Paralympic Games, whose first edition was in Rome in 1960.

From Stoke Mandeville he will go to France with British relievers and it is in the middle of the English Channel tunnel where the French athletes will receive it to take it to the town of Calais.

From there the fire will be divided to take it on a journey of twelve different sections which will pass through cities such as Strasbourg, Montpellier, Lourdes, Lyon or Rouen, and finally converge in the Paris region.

On the 28th he will tour the French capital before the opening ceremony, which will have its epicenter at the Plaza de la Concordia. The emblematic place along the Seine will be the final destination of the Paralympic flame.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be held from that day until September 8while the Olympics will take place between last July 26 and August 11.
