Spanish tennis players Roberto Bautista, seeded number one and Albert Ramos, number three, Italian Fabio Fognini and Kazakh Denis Yevseyev qualified this Friday for the semifinals of ATP Challenger 100 of the Faulcombridge Cup, at Valencia Tennis Club. The doubles final was also decided between Italians Andrea Vavassori and Andrea Pellegrino, who defeated Indians Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Prashanth by doubles 6-4, with the Spanish duo formed by Daniel Rincón and Oriol Roca, who defeated the Romanian Victor Vlad Cornea and the Austrian Philipp Oswald by 5-7, 6-1 and 10-3.
The youngster from Madrid, Martín Landaluce, was defeated by Yevseyev in a tough and difficult match that was resolved with the score 7-6 (6), 7-6 (2) while Albert Ramos defined his victory against the Frenchman that Hugo Gastón, number. 5 of the tournament, 6-2 and 6-4.
The third quarterfinal match that was resolved pitted Roberto Bautista against Alejandro Moro, a pick from the previous stage (‘lucky loser’) who first fell to Carlos López Montagud and later entered the individual final draw instead of Bernabe Zapata.
The tournament number one closed out the first set with 6-2, but Moro raised the level in the second set bringing the matter to 5-5; Bautista then ended up breaking his rival’s serve to win after closing out the set 7-5 in a match that lasted 1 hour and 37 minutes.
For his part, Fognini defeated Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert in two sets 6-4, 7-5 in 1 hour and 43 minutes.
