The meeting between Nantes and Nice (1-0) This Saturday turned into a tragedy. The Nantes prosecutor confirmed the death of a 31-year-old Nantes fan just an hour and a half after the end of the match. This ultra, a member for several years of Brigade of the LoireNantes’ main group, was stabbed before the match, probably by a VTC driver delivering Nice fans.
“Around 8 pm, several VTC vehicles transporting Nice fans were attacked by FC Nantes fans when they were traveling along the Avenue de la Gare de San José, to reach the Beaujoire stadium,” text explanation. “During these events, in circumstances that have yet to be determined, a 31-year-old man, a fan of FC Nantes, collapsed and died instantly.”
The Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation for “voluntary manslaughter”, jointly entrusted to the territorial direction of the judicial police and the security department of Loire-Atlantique. Nantes wrote a note of condolence to the networks before the match: “FC Nantes has learned that a Nantes fan was seriously injured before the match. We offer our support to the victim’s family and loved ones.” The attack on the Nantes fan comes after a series of tensions and incidents that have recently occurred in several Ligue 1 matches.
